Student Setup Guide

Welcome to the Scratch Setup Guide for Students and Families! On behalf of Coding Minds Academy, we are glad you are here. In this document, you will find how to access both online and Desktop versions of Scratch and prepare for class.

Opening Scratch

Option 1: Scratch Online

Scratch Online utilizes the web browser and online platform of Scratch, which makes it easy for students to save and publish projects. Students using this option may use their own accounts (verified email required), or can use premade accounts made for them by their instructor following this format:

  • Username: cm#### (Student ID from SMW, example: cm1234, cm4321, etc.)
  • Password: codingminds

Option 2: Scratch Desktop (Accessible for students in China)

Scratch Desktop is a downloadable application with offline access not requiring a sign-in.
