Roblox Student Preparations
Overview
Roblox has been a popular platform for this generation of young kids to play and socialize on. It's popularity is all thanks to creative and dedicated developers using Roblox Studio to make it happen. Here are some things we need to get familiar with before we start teaching.
- Class Structure
- Roblox Studio
- Share My Works
Class Structure
Every class, you and your instructor will go through the lessons in this course. Be sure you know what module you are on. Before class, look at the lesson for that chapter (for example, L1-1 Basic Controls in Module 1). Then, make sure you practiced what you learned by doing the exercises (for example, L1-1 Exercises in Module 1).
Every module has several projects. When you and your instructor fully complete the lesson and exercise, we would like you guys to choose any of the projects in that module to complete and work on. You don't have to do all of them (usually 1 or 2 are fine), but you are welcome to do more. If you don't finish a project, then you should do it for homework.
Roblox Studio
If this is your first time using Roblox and do not have an account, please follow the guide below to get started. However, if you already do have an account, skip forward to "Installing Roblox Studio."
Requirements
The following system OS/hardware will ensure Roblox Studio runs smoothly:
- A PC or Mac computer running at least Windows 7 or macOS 10.10 (Roblox Studio cannot run on Linux, Chromebooks, or mobile devices such as smartphones).
- Internet access. This keeps the software up-to-date and lets you save projects to your Roblox account.
In addition, the following hardware will enhance your Studio experience but aren't required:
- A 3-button mouse with a scroll wheel.
- A dedicated video card (not an integrated card).
Visiting the Roblox Website
- Open up your prefered internet browser (Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Safari, etc.)
- You can search up Roblox in your search bar or type in roblox.com
- Without an account, you are greeted by this page. All you need to do is fill out the form.
- Note: You do not need an email to create an account, but it is heavily recommended to connect an email to your account if you plan on purchasing Robux. If your password is too easy to guess, you could lose your account and your Robux. You cannot connect a school email to Roblox.
Installing Roblox Studio
- Go to roblox.com/create
- This should lead you to a page like this:
- Click on the "Start Creating" button. This will prompt it to see if you already have Roblox Studio installed. If not, it will ask you to install the downloader. Otherwise, it will open your already installed Roblox Studio.
- Congratulations! You are now ready to begin creating content for Roblox!
Note: Roblox Studio always requires the internet to work. There is no offline mode.
Share My Works
https://www.sharemyworks.com/ is the website to upload your projects (e.g. published links, Roblox files).
Towards the end of class, your instructor will ask you to go to Share My Works and upload your published Roblox link or project file.

Click on the add project button. Now enter in the title, description, and link/file to your project. If you have any questions, please ask your instructor.
