Lesson 1-1 Building Your Robot

Plan Your Build

For this course, we won't be using build instructions from Lego Mindstorm, instead you will be making your own robot. The robot you make now will be used for the rest of the lessons. The robot we make will be very simple and in the coming lessons we will add more to our robot. Before we start building, we first need to plan it out so we know what we are doing.

First Steps

Our first step should be to list out what we need in our build. We'll keep our robot simple and so the only parts we need are the intelligent brick and wheels. The type of wheels we have on our robot is up to you, it can be big wheels, small wheels or even tank treads. Your robot just needs to be able to move forward and backwards, left and right. We will also need motors to control these wheels.

Next Steps

Once you've picked out what type of wheels you want, we need to figure out how to attach them to the intelligent brick. We need them to go on the sides of the brick just like when we built Track3r in Lego 1. In the next lesson we'll actually be building our robot.
